Importance of Documentation

What is the most important thing in research?

I heard the global company 'Google' has focused on documentation about their research. However, many companies in Korea don't concentrate on this work because of only achieving short-term goals. I think documentation gives me many benefits in aspects of career development and self-care. I hope this attitude won't change.
